Moxibustion

What is Moxibustion?
Moxibustion is a branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) involving the indirect warming of Acupuncture points to warm and “Tonify” (build up the Qi or energy) the body.
Moxa, as it is known, comes in the form of loose, dried herb, sticks (which look like a cigar) or cone shapes.
The use of heat from a burning moxa cone or stick (made of the dried herb mugwort) warms the skin at an Acupuncture point and is intended to stimulate the flow of Qi.
What Are The Benefits Of Moxibustion?
Moxa treatment facilitates healing by strengthening the blood, stimulating the flow of qi and helping to maintain general health.
Moxa can be applied directly or indirectly to the surface of the skin and is mainly used on people with stagnant and cold conditions.
If you are pregnant you can also use moxibustion to help turn your baby if he/she is in the breech position. For more information on this click the “Acupuncture for Pregnancy” page.
